A profusion of concentrated fruit flavours is an apt description for the newly released Fleur du Cap Unfiltered Merlot 2006, the flagship in Fleur du Cap’s ultra premium range of Unfiltered wines.
This superb Unfiltered Merlot comes from a longstanding lineage of excellence. The 2004 vintage was a Veritas Double Gold and Michelangelo Gold medallist whilst the 2005 vintage clinched a Winemakers’ Choice Diamond Award. Fleur du Cap Unfiltered Merlot 2006 is no exception and looks as promising as its predecessors.
This smooth, yet lively wine has a dark plum colour with alluring aromas of ample plum and blackcurrant infused with gentle oak spices on the nose. On the palate this medium to full-bodied wine displays berry fruit flavours enhanced by delicate wood spices ending with a lasting aftertaste.
Winemaker Justin Corrans, known for his rigorous barrel selection and hands-on approach at The Bergkelder, the home of Fleur du Cap wines, recommends this succulent Merlot as a perfect choice with Parma ham, roast lamb kebabs, hearty oxtail or robust Italian dishes.
Inspired by nature, the premier Fleur du Cap Unfiltered range is a collection of superbly balanced wines set apart by their excellent quality and elegance. Made of superior grapes meticulously selected from prized vineyards and handcrafted in the cellar with minimal interference, these wines are a true expression of the grape and simply abound with fruit and flavour.
