Taste top-rated Pinotage

A recent Pinotage category tasting by WINE magazine revealed some impressive results, with the 4? [four-and-a-half] Star Kanonkop 2004 heading the list of gems that emerged and the Hidden Valley 2004, Groot Constantia 2005, Southern Right 2005 and Simonsig Redhill 2005 among the 4 Star winners.

Wine enthusiasts will have the opportunity to sample 10 of the best wines from among the top scorers at a public tasting to be held at the Park Hyatt Hotel on 14 June. Kanonkop's Johann Krige will talk delegates through the different styles that indicate a resurgence of South Africa's indigenous red grape varietal.

The tasting takes place at 18:30 and costs R100 a head.
