Clos Malverne Extend Their Devonet Range To Six Wines

Wines for all seasons

Clos Malverne, situated in the picturesque Devon Valley outside Stellenbosch, have established themselves as producers of finely crafted wines. Due to consumer demand for an entry-level red wine, Clos Malverne, in 2004, launched their maiden Devonet Merlot/Pinotage 2003. The popularity of this wine has led to the recent extension of the Devonet range to six wines. This is a wine range for all seasons and a true testament to good quality, at an excellent price.

Clos Malverne winemaker, IP Smit, makes these Devonet wines to the same exacting standards as the existing Clos Malverne wines, with the same elegant style and lower alcohol levels. The Devonet range is essentially the entry level of the Clos Malverne range and will be sure to impress wine novices and aficionados alike.

The Devonet range includes:
  • Devonet Merlot/Pinotage 2006: The cherry and red berry character of the merlot complements the plum fruitiness of the pinotage.
  • Devonet Sauvignon Blanc 2007: Full bodied and dry with hints of asparagus and fig on the nose that follow through to the palate.
  • Devonet Chardonnay 2006: A medium-bodied wine with lovely citrus flavours well integrated with the French oak.
  • Devonet Rosé 2006: A beautiful coral colour with a kaleidoscope of flavours on the palate, from raspberry to floral sensations.
  • Devonet Merlot/Shiraz 2006: A medium- to full-bodied wine with lots of fruit and a spicy, peppery nose with well-integrated cherry and red berry flavours from the merlot.
  • Devonet Shiraz/Cabernet 2006: A medium- to full-bodied wine with a deep ruby colour, lots of fruit and a lingering aftertaste.
