We celebrate our 1st birthday this month which is perfectly timed for the upcoming party season and we invite you to experience Meloncino-living at its finest!
A BRIEF HISTORY:
Meloncino Ristorante, Bar & Pizzeria combines the knowledge and passion of two generations of restaurateurs. Inspired by both of our fathers' love of the restaurant business, we are commited to delivering only the best in terms of service, food, authenticity and ambience. Mario Carrara owns two popular restaurants in Rome and Peter Protoulis created the V&A Waterfront succcess stories - the Greek Fisherman and the City Grill making for a sound business partnership to create an upmarket Italian venue. The two families are also related enhancing the personalised approach that we have undertaken.
FROM THE KITCHEN:
Our three Italian chefs: Andre, Luciano and Roberto have extensive culinary experience gleamed from some of the finest restaurants in Italy. It did not take much to convince the guys to move to Cape Town and in their own words, 'it was love at first sight'
From homemade pasta, through to elegant Italian and seafood dishes prepared on the open-fire grill, to delicious pizzas and decadent desserts, Melonino's menu is expansive and caters for a wide variety of preferences.
For Starters, expect the likes of 'Sliced Aubergine with Ham, Mozzarella and a Tomato-based sauce topped with Parmesan, Fresh Basil and Oregano' as well as 'Hand-sliced prosciutto served with Grana Padano and Mascarpone Ice Cream, drizzled with Balsamic'.
At Main Course, don't miss out on signature dishes like the "Tagliata di Manzo alla Righetto", a delicious offering of sliced sirloin topped with fresh rocket, cherry tomatoes and shavings of Parmesan. Alternatively, opt for a taste of Italian pasta at its best with the "Spaghetti Scoglio in Carta Fata". Stylishly presented in transparent wrapping and served with mixed seafood, cherry tomato and chilli, this is a pasta dish designed to impress!
And for something sweet, the "Semifreddo di Nutella" - a semi-frozen Nutella mousse and the "Torta Strepitosa ai 3 Cioccolati", promising a decadent feast of baked cream pasticciera and white chocolate on a milk chocolate biscuit base topped with wild berries and a dark chocolate sauce, are definite musts.
