Zonnebloem Pinotage 2005 vintage flaunts fresh new look
Zonnebloem has re-launched its entire range of wines with a progressive new look that reinforces the strong traditional roots of this South African stalwart in the time-honoured craft of winemaking. The ever popular Zonnebloem Pinotage 2005 is the first wine to sport this stylish new look.
Aesthetically appealing with a more contemporary feel, the elegant new label was designed to create a premium look whilst maintaining Zonnebloem’s traditional image.
Zonnebloem Pinotage 2005 is a medium to full-bodied wine made of grapes handpicked from dryland vineyards in the Stellenbosch, Stellenbosch Kloof, Devon Valley, Somerset West and Jonkershoek areas. The grapes were harvested at optimal ripeness in February showing terrific colour, soft tannins and good structure.
This robust, oak matured Pinotage with its deep ruby red colour is packed with concentrated aromas of blackberries and prunes enhanced with hints of nutmeg, banana and vanilla. The melange of crushed berry flavours that carries through from the nose to the palate is complemented by well-integrated wood flavours.
Zonnebloem Pinotage 2005 is divine on its own and makes for a great twosome served with poultry, game of red meat dishes.
The history of Zonnebloem, one of South Africa’s first major wine brands, dates back to the early part of the 18th century. Today this tradition lives on from the vineyards, tended by the same families for over three generations, to the meticulous craftsmanship in the cellar. This care and attention have resulted in a range of great wines, nurtured, handcrafted and slowly coaxed to perfection, until they are released at optimum quality. These full-bodied wines are well-structured to show varietal character with rich, robust flavours, yet remain accessible and easy to drink with a soft palate.
The Zonnebloem Pinotage 2005 is available from R39 per bottle at all leading wine outlets.
