Wackey Wine Weekend

The winter months are a great time to escape from life in the city and spend time with family and friends. If you have not finalised your winter weekend away why not head to the Robertson Wine Valley for the 4th annual Wacky Wine Weekend, taking place 1 - 3 June 2007!

The festival takes place AT participating wineries all across the valley and will have something for everyone: food fundi's, art & music lovers, outdoor & sporty types, the young, the old, and everyone in between!

Each winery host extra activities to wine tasting such as Boat Cruises, Sunset Game Drives, Live Music (great variety), Cheese & Olive tasting, Golfing, Terroir Tractor Trips, a Half-marathon, Fishing, Vineyard Quad Biking and much, much more. NEW on the cards this year is a Mountain Bike Race, Helicopter Trips, Italian Pole Climbing ("Plao della cuccagne") and Archery amongst others!

This is also the ideal time to get up close and personal with the local winemaking community! There are plenty 'Meet-the-Winemaker' tastings and some of the winemakers will be hosting private 'barrel-tastings'. Be one of the first visitors to get to taste some of our 2007 vintage wines!

There is plenty to eat, with everything from hotdogs to gourmet delicacies! These include Riverside picnics; Italian, Medieval, Arabian (NEW) and Brazilian food (NEW), Potjiekos, "Perlemoen" (Abalone) on Rice (NEW), Traditional 'Boerekos; Argentinean steak, Whole Barbequed Salmon (NEW); "Vetkoeke, Sushi, Roosterkoeke" and Fresh Oysters with Bubbly. The list just goes on and on!

For the kids there will be Pony Rides; Inflatables; Feeding the Farm Animals, Face Painting; Puppet Shows, Magicians, Games; 'Kettie' Target Shooting and much more.

Cost: Your passport (R30) - a stylish tasting glass (incl a goodie-bag), needs to be bought at your first stop (any participating winery / our office). Thereafter it is pay-as-you-go per activity with some activities free of charge.

Bookings: Many of the activities need to be booked before hand (directly with the wineries) and we strongly advise you to do so sooner rather than later as they tend to be booked out quite quickly
